Pop, Rock and Metal

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our guitarist (Dan Lindsey) had an older brother that was in the Air Force Academy. He unfortunately passed away in a skiing accident with his buddy. Mourning Moon is our reminder for him and our logo borrows loosely from the Air Force Mourning formation when a pilot passes away.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all love rock music of varying styles, so it was no doubt we were going to play guitar based rock n roll. We classify ourselves as Rock, but we are trying to create a sound that is unique to us. We want to sound like Mourning Moon, and we don’t want any rules or guidelines about what we should sound like. We play what we like to hear, and we really hope others like it as well.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Sort of. Thomas, our bass player begin working where Cam, our singer worked. They begin talking music and decided to get together one day and jam. Thomas had a friend, who happened to be Dan’s girlfriend, and she told Thomas about Dan. So we brought Dan into jam. David, our drummer has played in many different bands with Cam going back ten years, so that piece was ready to go.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Cam Creasy-singer/rythym -Black Sabbath
Dan Lindsey-lead guitar-Red Hot Chili Peppers
Thomas Schmitt-bass-The Who
David Wingard-drums-Greenday

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by all sorts of life experiences and thoughts. One theme you will pick up on in our music is space travel, alien encounters, and the unexplained. We’re really into the unknown and the endless possibilities that are out in this world. The vastness and emptiness of space, the wonder of it all. We of course like to look at the world and things going on and put our spin on it. At the end of the day, it’s rock n roll, so there are no rules and we can write about anything. Those are a few of the things we’re interested in.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Meza, AZ for an end of year bike rally. Outside gig and rain came hard, in Arizona. Show got stopped 30 mins in. So we drove cross country to do this show, and it got rained out. Hey, at least we got 30 mins in.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to play The Whiskey in LA, The Troubadour, The Rainbow. Those LA venues have a ton of history and nostalgia, and we definitely plan on playing there. Obviously Madison Square Garden is a goal as long as we’re just throwing out a wish list. Red Rocks is the ultimate for any band I believe. Playing Red Rocks, at night, has to be as close to a perfect experience for the people on stage and in the audience. We would also love to get to other countries

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We are mostly concerned with putting out the best work we can. We haven’t really considered who we would want to feature with, but if an artist was interested that helped our project, we would be totally into it.

9. Whom not?

I would rather. It say who I don’t want to work with. Some people would be a fit, some not, but our main concern is the four guys in Mourning Moon making the best music we can.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We get occasional stage fright, but we always have a pre show shot right before we go on. Advice would be, don’t worry about anything, just play your ass off.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We’re into all kinds of music from Sabbath to The Who, to Yes to AC/DC, to Rush, to Gojira, to Muse, to Prince to Zeppelin to King Crimson, to Cream. We love many different bands and artist, but we hope our sound is our own.

12. Something to add?

Please give Mourning Moon a listen and tell your friends. Don’t take us or yourselves to seriously. Try to have more good days than bad.
